North Barrington is served by two unit school districts: Barrington School District #220, with an enrollment of 7,695, and Lake Zurich District #95, with an enrollment of 5,769 students. There are two parochial schools in nearby Lake Zurich and one in Barrington.
Government Services
The village contracts for police protection with the Lake County Sheriff's Department. North of Miller Road, paramedic and fire protection is provided by the Wauconda Fire Protection District and south of Miller Road protection is provided by the Lake Zurich Fire Protection District.
Recreation
The village operates four park areas which include a soccer field, baseball diamond, and play equipment. Two country clubs are in the community as well.

Most areas of the village are served only by highways and countryside roads of limited capacity and continuity. Major highways accessible are U.S. Rte. 14 and U.S. Rte. 12. Metra commuter rail service is available from nearby Barrington.
