What your Real Estate Commission May be Paying For
Barrington Sellers, Real Estate in other areas.
Back in July after seeing Way too many photos of Suburban Chicago homes listed for sale on the MLS with snow in the pictures, I posted a blog about the importance of Pictures in the marketing of a home.
Notice that I say Marketing. There is a big difference in Marketing a home and Listing a home. Do you think you would ever see Barrington Motorwerks advertising a Porsche that was just trashed after a college road trip to Florida with actual pictures of it before cleaning it up?
Obviously, we are a little more in tune to pictures and virtual tours since we are pretty much on the Multiple Listing Service quite often and luckily for some homeowners, they only pay a commission if the home sells.
We are not the only ones in tune with this. We network with real estate agents across the nation and Ryan Ward of Atlanta Real Estate has put together a funny video of pictures that he's seen. I particularly like the photos with the half full Corona and the one that obviously was taken in a car as the picture taker was driving by the home. (It appears they did not even stop the car to take the shot!)
I love the caption at the end, "No Homes were sold during the Filming of this Video".
The worst real estate photos of 2007 video courtesy of Ryan Ward for Atlanta Real Estate:
Obviously, these homes could be classified as "Handyman Specials" but sometimes, no pictures with a good price are better then these pictures.
Of course, somebody could get really creative with the Handyman Special and create a video such as this one brought to my attention from Matt Pelerin who is a Scottsdale real estate agent. I certainly second his vote for the 2007 Best visual tour of 2007! (See if you can find the Dog!)
Luckily, I can't say I've seen anything like what has been highlighted in the above videos in the Barrington area but if I do, I'll make sure I highlight it with a video!
(Of course, If I see listing pictures of snow in front of Barrington homes for sale this next July, I'm going to have to come up with a Merry Christmas video for July!)

No worries Matt. We've all been quite busy gearing up to step up the marketing. Thanks for stopping by and hope it's warm down there!
I loved that virtual tour you wrote about. Whenever I need a good laugh, I play it. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the mention... I just can't believe I didn't find this for almost 6 weeks after you posted it.

We sure got a lot of attention with that "virtual tour of the year" that I posted on my site. hard to think that someone would live that way, but at least the VT was made as a sort of spoof of normal VT's.
Thanks again for the mention.
