Headlines Help Sell Real Estate

What sells magazines? Is it what's inside of the magazine or is it the cover? Is there any wonder why some of the most popular magazines such as Cosmopolitan, People and even the National Enquirer are right there in the checkout stand at your favorite Barrington grocery store loaded with pictures and captivating headlines with some juicy headlines of some gossip that make you want to read more?

The success of these magazines are based on the very people who determine the covers and it's the most important job that makes or breaks the sales of the magazine. Poor headlines and poor pictures are an instant recipe for failure in sales no matter how good the content is inside. Tolstoy (one of my favorite classic novelists) was a great writer but even he would not have been able to sell magazines.

The same goes for Your Chicago real estate for sale

Poor pictures and a poor headline are pretty much a guarantee that your home will generate zero attention from buyers or even other REALTORS. I've seen 19 page brochures of incredible Barrington homes for sale with a headline promoting the REALTOR listing the property and only one picture. The content was great if you wanted to read a novel, but I certainly saw nothing that would make a potential home buyer pick up the phone to inquire and view this particular home even though it was a drop dead gorgeous waterfront Barrington home.

Listed by "top real estate agent" as a headline will certainly garner zero attention from a potential home buyer. The truth that I've learned over the years from my experience in real estate is that potential home buyers could really care less if I was the top real estate agent or the company I belonged to was #1 in real estate. They just want to buy a great home at a fair price that meets their needs.

Price Reduced $100,000 as a headline really means nothing to me except for telling me that it was overpriced to begin with and if you read my previous post about South Barrington Real Estate you may understand the importance of pricing your suburban Chicago real estate right to begin with.

Listed by "top real estate agent" or "top real estate agent proudly presents" is certainly not going to generate any interest. Yes, it seems all of us real estate agents want our 15 minutes of fame but we need to remember that it is all about the seller and buyer and not ourselves.

Part of my process of preparing a home to market involves sitting down and doing an interview with the sellers that includes important questions as to why they bought the home in the first place. What made you buy the Barrington area home? What do you Love most about your home?

Asking these questions and sitting down with the homeowner with the multiple photos taken (I attend all photo sessions by the way) and preparing a marketing campaign to generate interest and phone calls is how I create headlines that sell homes. More then likely the reasons why you bought your home is exactly the same reason why somebody else will purchase your home.

When I adopted the attitude that selling a home was a team concept and thinking like a real estate buyer, that made all the difference.
